Lionel Richie Steered Nicole Richie Into Fashion

Richie became interested in fashion as a youngster and would put together her own designs before asking her dad's wardrobe mistress to make the outfits out of material left over from the singer's stage costumes.

The Simple Life star tells Britain's Glamour magazine, "When I was a little girl and my dad was touring, I would make his costume designer make outfits for me out of the extra fabric. I was really making my own clothes, or designing them at least!"
