Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones split

Superstar couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have separated.

Rumors began to swirl over the weekend (24-25Aug13) that the couple, who wed in 2000 and have two children, were heading for a split, and now a representative for the actress has confirmed they have split.

The rep says, "Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage."

The Wall Street actor, 68, and his Welsh wife, 43, have not been snapped in public together since April (13), and People.com reports the stress of Douglas' cancer battle in 2010 and Traffic star Zeta-Jones' bipolar disorder has taken its toll on their marriage.
